Iwaya community, in the Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos, went aglow on Saturday, 17 May, when the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries embarked on We Care Evangelism outreach to the area.
At the event, the paramount ruler of Iwaya, Oba Suleiman Owolabi Ogun-Oloko, Ade-Ori Okin II, Olu of Iwaya, described the Care Evangelism outreach as another milestone step by the General Overseer of MFM worldwide, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, in reaching out to Iwaya people amidst hunger and hardship currently ravaging the country.
Speaking with MFM News Digest Magazine during the outreach, which took place in his Palace, Oba Ogun-Oloko enumerated the many instances when the General Overseer came on rescue missions by lifting lives of people who were affected by poverty, lack and hunger.
According to him, “The General Overseer of MFM has been of immense assistance to this community. He is not only a pillar of blessings but also a father to this Iwaya community.
“He provided accommodation to 500 people in this community when they were faced with accommodation problems. As I earlier said, Dr. Olukoya is not concerned with tribe or religious background, he will provide help, in as much as you are a human being.
“There was another instance when a blind lady came to see me for financial assistance to enable her buy a grinding machine. When I presented her case to G.O, he told me to go ahead and buy the machine for her. As you can see in today’s event, both Christians and Muslims, irrespective of age, came for the sharing of food items to alleviate the food insecurity in this community.”
In the same vein, the Olori of Iwaya, Olori Temitope Oloko, commended Dr. Olukoya and the entire MFM Care Evangelism team for alleviation of the food insecurity and general hardship, which she noted have impoverished many people.
“I can describe this as another Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of MFM, which is not only lifting lives out of spiritual bandages but also lifting lives from physical, economic challenges.”
Responding to her message to both the community and the country at large, Olori Oloko appealed to everyone to imbibe the culture of peaceful coexistence, irrespective of tribe or religion.
The food outreach programme was the second of such that took place in the palace this year, where over 5,000 less privileged people, made up of adults, children and handicapped, all enjoyed the products after prayer and altar calls, where some people surrendered their lives to Christ.
The people went home with bags of food items, cash gifts, handed over to them by the monarch himself.
