– Pastor Mercy Adekunle
Despite the teeming wet day, it was a successful programme by every parameter as evidenced by the number of women who turned up for the Women Foundation Programme. Delirious of excitement and lusty cheer was the preponderance of the mood. The joy in their faces defies description, the two days were simply electrifying as women gathered together at the South West 35, Mega Regional Headquarters, Oke Ado, Ibadan for the glittering and compelling programme.
Pastor Mrs Mercy Moses Adekule, a staggeringly beautiful wife of Pastor Moses Adekunle, the Mega Regional Overseer of South West 35, Oke Ado Ibadan is the coordinator of Women Foundation. The vibrant, lively and feisty woman is a model that is unique in many ways. Though meeting this sultry elegant for the first time, she may be mistaken for a corporate Amazon but immediately she saunters into the podium, she becomes a dynamite and spits fire. Her jocund ministration on the first day of the programme put every woman in the hall in a happy frame of mind. Brimming with confidential ability, she believed that by every strength of imagination, women should not sit down whining and snivelling about their fates. Rather, they should believe that God has deposited in them potential for their glorious manifestation. Unleashing the Champion embedded in them, they would soar high. And that is the thrust of the programme.
She observed that women are faced with many challenges but was fulsome in her appreciation to the General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya for creating a platform for women to operate. His amiable wife, Dr Folashade Olukoya has really provided women a privilege to make use of their talents.
A programme like this was organized to steer up women, some women have great deposits but are looking for something that will trigger that seed of greatness in them and awaken the giant in them. Though some women may still be laggards and not ready to do anything, she believed that by exposing them to this kind of programme, they would change. She explained in an interview with this magazine that each time they met at the Women Foundation; they were told that the era of full housewife was gone. Even if their husbands encourage this, they should be thinking of a stream of income to assist in their respective homes. And also encourage them to have a garden at the back of their homes as a time like this, when to put food on the table is no picnic. We are not training our women to become a liability to their husbands but rather to manifest the potential in them.
She opined that the first thing a woman needs is self-discovery and what is in you. Because there is something that does not require capital. Today, it is not a certificate alone that can earn people money and that is why the bible says, your talent will make way for you. When you discover what is in you and prayerfully allow God to lead you, you will manifest that potential. The next portion is the training and a backup with prayers.
Before the programme came to a happy ending, the women were exposed to training on how to make sausage rolls, shammawa[TO1] and smoothies and it added piquancy to the well-attended programme. The compassionate daughter of Zion whose life is filled with integrity and moral fortitude patently believes that the women should be able to parlay the success of what they have learned from the programme into a real vocational job. The Mega Regional Overseer, Pastor Moses Adekule intoned the closing prayer
